Copper is electrolytically plated onto both the panel surface and the holes to a thickness of .001 inches thick. This allows the holes the strength to withstand soldering and for current carrying through the holes. This is followed by a solder plate to act as an etch resist. These platings are plated in the shape of the circuitry as defined by the photo resist.
